The Brazil Pavilion covers a total space of 4133 square meters,
near the west entrance to the exhibition, and in the open space of the Pavilion was made the central attraction of the structure: a suspended net on which you can walk and jump, a network through its weft allows you to see the cultures exposed to the ground floor and the museological display of local culture. This is not the only sensory experience that can be proven on the network, in fact on it are installed special sensors that activate lights and music systems in a different way depending on the weight and movements of the visitors. An interactive experience, playful but also symbolic, because the metaphor of the network through flexibility, fluidity and decentralization want to show the connection and integration of the different subjects through which Brazil won the role of world leadership as producer of food.
arketipomagazine.itThe Brazilian Pavilion is designed by Studio Arthur Casas, in collaboration with the Atelier Marko Brajovic, winner of the open competition organized by Institudo de Arquitetos do Brasil (IAB). The pavilion of Brazil comprises two main bodies, one outdoor, made of steel and where stands the pedestrian net, the more body, more compact, is on three levels. In the open space of the Brazil Pavilion there is an area dedicated to the cultivation of plants, flowers and fruits in Brazil, enhanced by interactive tables with games and information on crops exposed. In this area there is also a net suspended above described. You can access on the first floor by a ramp that starts from the ground floor. Here the exhibition continues: the visitor is accompanied by a video broadcast on a wall of 56 meters in length. On the opposite side the visitor can observe the typical food of Brazil, through five digital stations. Inside the pavilion it was made an auditorium that can accommodate up to 200 people, which will be used for conferences, seminars or other events.
For the construction of the pavilion it has been a lot of attention to the environment, by providing a “smart” and low impact structure both in construction phase and in phase of disassembly. The main structure is made
entirely dry with 433 tons of steel S355, with portals consist of HEA profiles for beams and columns, piers or circular tubes, “smart beams”, cellular beams whose profiles allow savings of material and the possibility to install implants in the false ceiling, floors of corrugated metal sheet without concrete casting. This last choice is strategic both as regards the sustainability of the pavilion that for the step of removing and restoring the site. The portals that take place in the gallery of 115 meters on the left side of the pavilion are made of Corten steel panels coated with metal grill. Moreover, the second body of the entire structure, which is on three levels, is coated with the cork MD Facade, with the dual function of Thermal insulation coating and facade covering.
