But what is RU 800 S?
It ‘a robot, if you can call it that deals with the renewal of the ballast, of the arrangement of the partitions, of the laying of tracks and the subsequent anchoring of the same, made during his journey on the railway lines obsolete when replacing.
Time ago that task was entrusted to hundreds of specialized workers, who often risked their lives on rail yards, with enormous amount of energy and time, on the other hand we know that rail travel along the tracks for hundreds, sometimes thousands, of kilometers.
In fact, many times, the operation of renewing a railway is, in fact, the most complex of its original mass in work. This is not only because we need to make the transition removal of old components, but also because it is necessary to carry out the work in a fairly short, worth big economic losses for all parties involved, including the population.
Today, this process can be reduced in time, thanks to the use of RU 800 S.
Until the middle of last century the traits of union (crosspieces) between the two long metal components (rails) were produced in beech, oak, durmast or pine. All materials with good structural resistance, but an impossible problem to be overcome: their tendency to rot for the effect of the natural rainfall.
So, before the passage of the RU 800 S, a team of specialists have to deal with separate crosspieces, from the rest of the railway, so that they can be automatically collected through the use of a specific system in the train. At the same time, a second machine in the main building will depose at regular intervals the excellent substitutes made more modern and durable concrete. Also the new metal rails, arranged at the sides of the old ones and rusted, will be replaced through the use of a system of rollers. Operation useful, inter alia, to an immediate increase of speed limits for modern high-speed trains, which are spreading.
